Wed 2023-10-18 Doheny 2ft waves

So lucky. I saw a harbor seal 🦭 just hanging out on the water in the Boneyard area. It had its head poking out with its nose up like it was meditating. When I got closer, it looked at me and slid into the water but popped back up not far from where it was. Saw its floppy feet too. Its huge eyes were a little intimidating up close. One of the surfers mentioned you don't see harbor seals around here very often. Good conditions for surfing practice. Gentle 1-2 ft waves. Caught about 15 waves in 1 hour. I tried to practice going in slightly different directions and putting weight on the feet differently. Definitely getting better at balancing on the 9ft max. Green waves are still hard to catch. Entered the park shortly after it opened at 6am and was in the water by 6:45am. They were redoing pavement on the north side, so I had to step over some tapes to get to beach. A little scary when parking in the dark, but there were already surfers in the water. There was a tiny older Asian lady that caught all the waves. She's my hero 🏄‍♀️🤙.
