Sun 2023-10-08 Blackies 1ft waves
Foggy, tiny bit of rain and small wave conditions made the beach relatively deserted for a Sunday morning. Caught 2-3 waves in 1 hr on my 9ft max. Started south of the pier, then checked out the north side. A fisher put his line way out almost to where I was and kept doing that 😤. Went back to south side and 2 experienced surfers caught some pretty small waves. I hung out in the water not catching any waves until at the very end, the waves got slightly more powerful (2 ft) breaking close to the beach. Managed to get up some but balance was hard. One time, I could feel the board sloped down as I was getting up and it was scary but fun. When I fell off the board (no graceful offmounts today) with my hands in the sand, I could have skinned my palms but they seem ok. Another time I fell, my right leg was caught on the board while bent in a weird angle so I might feel that in the coming days. I was excited that I saw a seal or something in the water. Dense fog made being out on the water feel surreal, calm and almost meditative. And market was up at Newport pier.
